Reason for the strike
The labor unions FNV and CNV have called this strike to protest against the Dutch government's proposed budget cuts to social security benefits (such as unemployment and disability benefits). The port sector demands that these austerity measures be withdrawn to protect social security for workers.

Unions have called for a work stoppage between 11:15 AM and 07:00 PM. During these hours, no vessels will be handled. This will directly affect the loading, unloading, securing, and towing of cargo.
